Hello,
At the beginning of April the Cultural Quarter beat team set new priorities for the following 3 months. Here is what we've been up to!
Priority 1: Tackling vehicle anti-social behaviour surrounding Granby Street and local streets. YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the Granby Street and surrounding area but ASB caused by people and vehicles prevents this. WE DID: -Operation Streetwise has taken place several times during April, resulting in multiple Section 59 warning notices being issued and drivers reported for an array of road traffic offences including no licence and no insurance. Working in partnership with Leicester City Council, PC Wilson has been exploring more long term solutions for the area.
Priority 2: Tackling theft related offences during the evening hours and ensuring business are safe. YOU SAID: -You want to operate shops in a safe environment and to see a reduction in thefts from your premises during the evening hours. WE DID: -Officers from the wider Central Leicester NPA team have been conducting focussed high visibility patrols during the night time hours particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. PCSO Sanders has been conducting crime prevention work with the shops to further prevent thefts.
Priority 3: Tackling drug related offences including drug dealing and drug taking YOU SAID: -You want to enjoy the areas of Leicester without having to witness either people using drugs or actively witnessing drug dealing. WE DID: -Officers from the team conducted uniformed and non-uniformed patrols in key areas resulting in several stop searches, arrests and the seizing of a significant quantity of drugs.
